Many years ago, we were in Santa Fe at the Shidoni foundry where they were casting a gigantic statue of Don Juan atop a rearing horse, only its hind hoofs still on the ground. It was destined for a place of honor in downtown El Paso Texas, but large protests again disrupted that city's plan. Eventually, it was installed at the El Paso airport, and renamed "The Equestrian" with no mention of the history of the person or the statue itself.
